Mark and Laura's Cooking Engagement
This was my first time photographing a cooking engagement and I wasn't sure where to start.
Mark and Laura both love cooking and I knew this was very important to them but I wasn't sure what they were expecting. I brought strobes, softboxes, stands and anything else I thought I would need. At first I was thinking I would setup my studio strobes but that workflow was just too slow for me. I like to have the freedom to move around, find new angles work fast, taking the shots as I see them happen. I'm not a slow and methodical shooter (when it comes to engagements anyway), willing to stop after every shot and readjust my lights and then try to find the shot again. It's slow and cumbersome and by the time I've reset my lights the emotional moment is gone.
So I skipped the studio lights, threw on my shoe mount flash and away we went combining a little cooking with a little romance!
